This is the second part of my conversation with Colton Conover. The last episode was all about addiction and life-dominating sin. This time around we are focusing on the reality of spiritual warfare and how to effectively minister and reach lost people.
Colton Conover is an Intern Pastor at Pekin Bible Church. He worked as a pest control technician before transitioning into full-time ministry. Colton struggled with drug addiction for over a decade and was hostile toward anything related to Christ.
In this episode, Colton shares more of his story of transformation, experiencing true freedom in Christ, the vital role the church community has to play, and more! You don’t want to miss this conversation.

Key Takeaways
- True transformation comes from Christ. It is not because of our work or effort. There has to be a heart change in order to experience true life change.
- We are all broken and in need of saving. Not everyone will struggle with addiction or life-dominating sin, but issues like anger, unforgiveness, and pride are just as sinful. Whether we struggle with a particular sin our entire lives or just for a season, we all need a Savior.
- The Church should be a source of help and healing. It’s important to consider how you can support those in your church struggling with life-dominating sin. We have a habit of outsourcing help for hurting people. Through soul care, Freedom Groups, and other resources, churches can become a supportive community that points people back to the one who can save them.
